VIDALIA, GA. â NATIONAL PRINCIPALS MONTH SPOTLIGHT: MRS. CHARLEEN NORFLEET
With 33 years in education, Mrs. Charleen Norfleet has dedicated her career to helping students and educators grow. Her journey has taken her from the classroom, where she taught third and fifth grades, to serving as an assistant principal and now as principal of J.D. Dickerson Primary School.
A lifelong Vidalia Indian and proud Vidalia High School graduate, Mrs. Norfleet earned her bachelorâs degree from Brewton-Parker College, masterâs degree from Capella University, Education Specialist degree from Nova Southeastern University, and leadership certification from Kennesaw State University.
Her passion for education began with her mother, who instilled in her the importance of learning, and was strengthened by educators who encouraged and challenged her along the way. Their influence showed her the lasting impact educators can have in helping students see possibilities for their futures. Today, she carries that influence forward by supporting teachers and creating opportunities for every student to learn, grow, and succeed.
Mrs. Norfleet enjoys visiting classrooms and watching students learn, engage, and grow. She is especially proud of JDDâs schoolwide focus on growth and its teachersâ commitment to meeting each studentâs individual needs.
Many may be surprised to learn that she began college as a music education major, performed with the Brewton-Parker choir and Baron Roadshow, and participated in community theater. Outside of school, she enjoys self-publishing books, spending time with her family, and taking Disney trips.
Although life took her away from Vidalia for several years, her heart remained here. She ultimately returned home to invest in the community and school system that helped shape herâa full-circle story of a Vidalia Indian coming home to serve the next generation.
Please join us in celebrating Mrs. Norfleet and thanking her for her dedicated leadership!
Built Different. Built Elite.
